jMrs. Albert (Annie) Haugen, last survivor of the Brende Family, who were pioneers in this community, died Sunday at the Good Samaritan Home in Sioux Falls, Mrs. Brende, 81, was born Nov. 9, 1883, to Gudmund and Lisbet Brende on the homestead southeast of Baltic.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Baltic Lutheran Church with the Rev. I.J. Loveseth officiating. Interment took place in the East Nidaros cemetery with Minnehaha Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Orville Brende, Oscar Brende, Lester Farley, Oscar Wold, Lasse Haugen and Olaf Brende.

Annie Marie Brende was baptized and confirmed in the old Nidaros church by the Rev. O.O. Sando. On March 17, 1905, she was untied in marriage to Joseph T. Haugen, who died Feb. 9, 1925. On June 12, 1926, she was married to Albert Haugen who died in August, 1964.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Lilly Assan, Sioux Falls; Mrs. E.T. (Thelma) Haugen, Dell Rapids; Mrs. Emil Stluka (Mildred), Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Thorsten, Sylmar, Calif., and Joseph, Boise, Ida.; three step-daughters Mrs. Alice Sandvig, and Mrs. Alma Moen, Sioux Falls and Mrs. Alfred Berg, Baltic; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
